Homeownership Thrives at AMHA!
In May, 2007, Jack and April Love,
former Public Housing residents, purchased their home. It was a
long process, but April insists it was worth it. She said, I
would recommend the Public Housing Homeownership program to
anyone on the program. It feels great to be a homeowner.
April attributes part of her success to her completion of the
AMHA Financial Fitness class. I learned a lot in there, she
noted. Almost as soon as she knew shed be getting the house,
April began remodeling. She put in new carpet, new appliances,
some new furniture, and she still has a lot of other plans for
the place
on down the road.
One month earlier, Section 8
resident Sara Clevenger also became a homeowner. She noted,
The staff [at AMHA] was very helpful and knowledgeable. They
made it possible for me to buy my first home and helped me
through the process. I personally would like to thank
Tiffany Wright , who went above and beyond her
job to help me through the steps of the program and the closing
of my house.
AMHA would like to congratulate
these new homeowners and wish them our best.

AMHA offers
great deals for homeownership to both Section 8 and Public
Housing residents. Often in fact, it actually costs less per
month to BUY a home than to pay RENT! Sure there are some
requirements for participation:
|
|
The family must attend a FREE 1 - 2 hour homeownership class |
|
|
The Family needs to have sufficient and ongoing income |
|
|
The Family must be able to obtain financing |

FSS =
Success!!!
Former
Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) client Leigh
Moore completed her FSS contract and recently received her FSS
escrow check. She noted, I learned a lot from the FSS
program. I also enjoyed the reward of accomplishing this task.
I feel I am a better person after accomplishing all the goals I
set for myself. I want to thank Tiffany for all the help and
support. It truly means a lot to me and my son. Leigh also
completed the AMHA Financial Fitness class and noted she was
happy to have taken the class and that she was glad to get
materials from the class she could have and refer to later. She
said, The Instructor, [ Anna
Schnippel ] really seems to know the material
and explains it well.
Leigh
worked hard to accomplish both personal and professional goals,
and is now at liberty to appreciate the fruits of those labors.
AMHA congratulates Leigh and wishes her good fortune in all her
endeavors.
