Last year, AMHA partnered with Monica Harnish with Creating Healthy Communities and several other community partners to transform a tired, outdated playground space into a beautiful neighborhood community garden. Lima Senior High students in Herb Lane's class built our raised garden beds. The City of Lima installed a water tap and master gardeners, Paige Townsend and Jenny Webb assisted new gardeners with planting and maintaining their garden beds. We were also recognized as an official LACNIP Community Garden site. This year, we added flowers, fruit trees and a new sign! We've enjoyed another successful gardening season harvesting a variety of produce including cabbage, tomatoes, onions, kale, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant, potatoes and a variety of peppers. We encourage everyone to take a peek at our garden located across from the housing authority office on Circular. We also hope that seeing our garden encourages you all to come garden with us next year. If you would like to get more information about how to garden with us next year, please give us a call at 419.228.6065. Hope to see you next year for the 2016 growing season! Until then, check out some pictures from the 2015 growing season.
